If you missed the big show last Saturday night, 147KXOA's Billy The Earl and his comedy act were the opening act for the Reno stop on the Wierd Al tour. Billy The Earl drove him to Reno but had to buy Al a McRib sandwich at each McDonald's they passed on the way. To hear Billy The Earl's "act" he's on from Midnight-6 7 days a week on The Giant X, 147KXOA http://147kxoa.com

San Diego Pulse radio ratings Jan-Mar 1970

KGB and KCBQ were kicking butt in San Diego back in 1970 according to the Pulse ratings for Jan-Mar 1970. KGB leading KCBQ overall by a slight margin; but before the ratings book came out, KGB-AM would "recycle" and go to an album-oriented format. Shoulda waited for the book to come back, guys; you were winning...

Billy The Earl opens for the Monkees

After his huge success in closing down the Sahara Hotel in Las Vegas last month, the Monkees needed somebody with a hat to add to the show (Mike Nesmith said no) so to open the show in Cabazon, the choice was the comedy stylings of BILLY THE EARL! Get those tickets now! If you dare, you can check out Billy The Earl polishing up the act from Midnight-6 (Pacific time) seven days a week on the Giant X, 147 KXOA http://www.147kxoa.com

KHJ Los Angeles Mason Dixon 1977

Mason Dixon did nights for a part of 1977 while Michael Spears had the station cooking; at least long enough to get on two KHJ surveys; one with Shaun Cassidy and another in a KHJ DJ group shot. Images courtesy California Aircheck http://californiaaircheck.com

KEWB San Francisco 1962

Billy The Earl & Philberto have decided to sell Billy's survey collection on Ebay for some quick cash. They're counting on $10,000+ to pay off that marker that the Sahara Hotel claims Billy signed for before they closed up May 16th. This KEWB survey from 1962 is what Billy feels is mint condition, if you know what I'm talkin' about...

The Big BillyThe Earl comedy show May 16 at the Sahara Hotel closing

You could have shot a cannonball through the Sahara Hotel casino in Las Vegas at 8PM Monday night May 16 while the big Billy The Earl comedy show was in full force in the Louie Anderson Memorial Theater; everyone was at the show, and only about 38% asked for their money back afterwards..Also pictured above is 147KXOA afternoon DJ Geoff Richards who volunteered to drive Billy The Earl to his Parole Officer's office in Las Vegas while they were in Vegas..As you can see, Billy wore his very best trenchcoat for the show. Carrottop, jealous of all the attention Billy The Earl was getting, was questioned by the LVPD about the assassination attempt on Billy's life that morning, but was released after getting a beating he won't forget. You can hear Geoff and Billy The Earl on The Giant X, 147KXOA each and every day; live streaming 24/7 http://147kxoa.com

KSTN Stockton Boss 30 music survey 10-1-70

As legend has it, after Bill Drake left KYA in 1962, he was approached by Gene Chenault, owner of KYNO Fresno, to consult KYNO, as he was getting his ass kicked by Ron Jacobs at Colgreen's new K/MAK. To sweeten the deal for Drake, Chenault's pal up Highway 99, Knox Larue at KSTN/Stockton, was added to the deal along with a new Cadillac. By 1970, Drake was long gone from KSTN, but they were still using the Boss Radio slogan and the Drake jingles. Here's a sample of the KSTN Boss 30 survey with 8-midnight KSTN Boss Jock Barry Shane on the cover. Image courtesy California Aircheck http://californiaaircheck.com

KYA San Francisco 6-24-74 Beaver Cleaver aka Ken Levine

Here's a rare style of KYA San Francisco music survey that I've never seen before..with a rare picture of Beaver Cleaver on it (mispelled too, unless they made him change it to "Cleever" so they wouldn't get sued)..image courtesy of California Aircheck http://californiaaircheck.com
